It’s less than twenty-four hours now before the madness
starts. Starting at two o’clock
tomorrow afternoon and going through Monday morning, the grounds of El Rancho
will be inundated with about 1,000 from all over New
Zealand for a New Wine conference.

I’ve know that New Wine would be coming ever since we got to
El Rancho, but I’ll be honest… I haven’t understood exactly what’s going on
other than that I would be working as camp staff through the event.

So, in their own words:

“New Wine Camps/Conferences

… life changing events
that aim to empower Christians and churches:

·
for mission through the power of God

·
for worship which is intimate, reverent, passionate, and biblical

·
for ministry in the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit, [modeled] in a loving
and responsible way

·
through Biblical teaching and seminars”

And that’s what the conference is all about.

I have the privilege of working on the kitchen staff during
New Wine. For me, it means a 14 hour day (7AM to
9PM) for three days straight, with two half days. I have to admit
that I’m not exactly looking forward to the length of the days, but I am
looking forward to the change in ministry. It’s a pretty long leap from being
with kids to serving up food and helping make sure a dining hall runs smoothly,
but this is what I came on The World Race to do.

So if you could, be lifting up all five teams (yes, five –
JSL and 12:18 from the N Squad will be working this conference as well, from
the New Wine side of things) as we work crazy hours and exhaust ourselves in
the name of service for Jesus Christ.
