A very, very long time ago, I said I was going to introduce you to my family.
I failed miserably at that… one blog about one person.
That said, this is not an attempt to try to revive that series (at this moment).
Rather, I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to one of the most near and dear people in my life.
Nita (my younger sister) and Grandma
Although Nita is very near and dear to my heart (and is more than worthy of introduction), the person I would like to introduce you to is my grandmother.
Just a few days ago, she celebrated her 85th birthday.
I’m a little sad to have been away from home and not able to celebrate with her, but we both know the Lord has called me here to this place and time for a specific purpose.
I wish I could put into words exactly the blessing she has been in my life.
I’ve spent nearly an hour now fighting for the words to say, but very little will flow through my fingers except this.
My grandma loves the Lord. Wholeheartedly. Unashamedly.
She’s the strongest woman I know, and her life has been an incredible example of what it means to serve the Lord in whatever capacity He asked of her (I’m going to take this time and space to mention that she taught Sunday School and in Vacation Bible School for 53 years straight!).
Her relationship with God inspires me to dig deeper into the depths of my own relationship with Him.
And her excitement about what He is doing in me and through me brings wellsprings of joy to my heart.
It reminds me of how I felt at the beginning of this chapter of my life… excited and ready to make big changes in this world.
Lasting changes.
So, Grandma –
Happy 85th!
I LOVE YOU!!!!
