I so stole this from one of my squad mates, but it completely answers the question of why I’m going on the World Race for those of you who still have questions!

I get a lot of questions about why I’m doing the World Race, but more than that I get a lot of comments like “You’re such a great person” or “that’s so good of you to do that, I really admire you.”  Well, they don’t know me like I do.  Therefore, I think I should set the record straight about why I’m going on the World Race.

1.  My life has been radically impacted by the God of the universe.  Truly it has.
2.  I think that things that are close to God’s hear should also be close to mine, and in a lot of ways they are.  I firmly believe that God is pretty concerned with justice and mercy.  In Micah 6:8 God is pretty clear “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” On the World Race, we will be working largely with those who have suffered injustices ranging from sex trafficking to their parents dieing of AIDS or simply being born the wrong color in the wrong place.
3.  I want to experience more of Jesus.  I am painfully aware of the fact that there is so much more to my God than I currently experience, and I am chasing after Him in faith that He will reveal himself, because He is a God that desires to be known.
4.  I want to do missions for the rest of my life, and this will be an awesome way to see how God is at work in the world and where I might potentially plug in.
5.  I feel like God really wants me to go and has provided this as an opportunity.

That’s pretty much the sum of it.  I’m not a great person in and of myself, but I do know a great God and I’m trying to be more like the person He created me to be.  It’s an exciting journey!
