That day was called Man of Peace. It was our last ministry day in Nepal, all squad month, and wrapped up month 3 for K squad. It was a day that started like all the others for ministry, morning time in Amad then some worship together. Shortly after that, as we were eating our peanut butter and apple for the road, we went out by teams…half the squad going to one mountain, the other half to another mountain. This day was something that brought meaning and impact to each of us in different ways, it was a day of faith but also seeing God’s will in ourselves. It was a day of physical stretching but also spiritual as we looked ahead completely trusting the Lord would have a place to eat a meal and lay our heads that night. The idea was to hike up the mountain, while along the way catching a free ride for atleast 10-15 minutes and then getting out to trek some more. Each team had a different story and experience to share with the rest of the squad, each story was amazing to hear.
My story. It wasn’t just about being able to physically make it up that mountain to our destination, it was for me a time to listen to the Lord speaking to my heart and showing me why I was in Nepal. It was a time to look out over the city of Kathmandu and see the beauty as a whole, a city that the Lord cries out to belong to Him. It was a time for me to breathe in the clear air and pray over this city that I also cry out to belong to Him. I had moments of encouraging my squad mates to make it up this same mountain, that we were in this together to reach the top and know God is using this as ministry. We saw so many beautiful people along the way, welcoming us to Nepal and rooting us on as we trekked past them.
Along this beautiful trek up the mountain, I found myself partnered for a while with one of the boys from the ministry we served alongside. We carried a great conversation and fellowshipped as we hiked. At one point, he wanted to run for a little bit. This brought me right back to training camp, the day we had to do the 3 mile hike in 50 minutes with our large packs and running parts of the way. Ofcourse, I said yes! Let’s run!! We ran. It was such a fresh feeling and freeing! It didn’t last very long, as we had already been hiking for quite a few miles and I still had to carry a decent size pack on my back. I took a moment to stop and look out over the city again, this time watching the sun set behind the mountains of the Himalayas. What a view!
This blog is of my final moments wrapped up from my month in Nepal. What a month it was! I love my squad, leadership, and the fellowship we were able to soak up for those weeks together. So much ministry was done throughout the month, so much stretching, and so much relationship building. Now as we go into month 4, India, I know God has a lot for us this month! It feels crazy amazing and weird to be back in India with a squad of awesome individuals I proudly call family! Pray for us. Hard! Pray for our hearts to be so open and ready for what God has in store for ministry, community, relationship building, worship, prayer, and so much more! Be excited for us. Live this journey with us. Your love and encouragement means so much to us, to me. Those of you so many miles away feel close to my heart when you express how much my blogs are able to give you a visual of the amazing things God is doing on the race. Pray for the nations we are visiting and given the opportunity to reach and love on in the name of Christ. The world is a very dark and lost place and we have a time such as this to go out and share the love of Christ and to peoples from all over. That looks so different everywhere we go and most of the time we step right into it and watch God work.
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
