You asked, My heart answered:) …….
- Sharing how feedback has helped me personally. Feedback is a GOOD thing and not being offended when receiving constructive feedback. How has the race helped me grow personally?
Feedback! That’s something that was really introduced to me on the race. I’m sure I have had it in the past, but never thought of it in the way that it’s been used since being on the field. Constructive and positive encouraging feedback. Receiving it from my squad leaders and even more so from my teammates, the amazing people I live every day with! Feedback is something that is meant to draw each of us closer to our relationship with God, something that many times those around me are able to give because they can see how I’m doing by watching me and living with me day in and day out. That being said, the race has helped me so much with growing personally. Living in intentional community and being stretched within myself has brought out the most and best of me.
- Best and worst memories so far…..
*Best memories: Celebrating three birthdays from my team within the first month of the race…being so creative and having tons of fun dancing and laughing! All squad worship nights at our first LDW, end of Month One. Dancing at one of the squad worship nights and feeling freedom I felt as a young girl! Baptizing one of my fantastic teammates under the waterfall in Ghana. Having Amad (hour of quiet devotional time) every morning as a squad during our all squad month in Nepal, followed by worship together. I absolutely love when our squad has those opportunities…I feel the unity in the spirit! Having good enough wifi to download as many sermons as I possibly can! Mornings to myself in the Word and worship on the roof of the house in Nepal! Meeting up with two of my favorite and amazing people while in Nepal!!! Tye and Buddhi, you guys are awesome and inspire me so much!!! Holding a beautiful baby boy for almost two hours during a meeting in India for pregnant and lactating women receiving care and support.

*Worst memories: Anyone on the squad or my team feeling so sick and having to miss out on ministry/the day with everyone else! Missing home and not even having wifi sometimes to say Hello or I love you to my family.
3. Specific way I’ve seen God move……
I have really seen God move in my squad mates, and it’s been awesome to be on this journey together. We have all said YES to the same thing when we signed up for the race, but we are all coming from different upbringings and walks of life. Freedom in areas of struggle and pain have taken over so many hearts already, and this is just month four. God is using the passions and love in each of our hearts at different times and in different ministries for each of us, it’s so great to see everyone grow in that.
4. Is it overwhelming going to so many countries?
It hasn’t been very overwhelming to me going to so many different countries. Sometimes adjusting can take a little longer in some places than others, but I learn to be so flexible and go with the flow. Having been overseas a handful of times before the race has really helped me a lot to be at peace and chill about the travels.
- What does a day in the life of Cat look like?
This really just depends on what ministry looks like for the month. That being said, each month has looked completely different from each other. The only consistency there’s been is probably travel days…that’s mainly because we’ve had to fly to the next country for the most part. All the teams meet up with the whole squad, we have a reunion and catch up with each other about our month, lots of hugs and laughs and happy to see everyone! Most of the time we’re exhausted and not ready to haul our huge packs to the next place, but also so excited for the next adventure that is coming.
6. Do you see any consistent needs in each culture?
There is definitely a need for the Gospel in each country we’ve been to. Love and hope in Christ is a big thing lacking in so many places. Coming alongside ministries that have already been up and running has been encouraging, we’ve been able to work with the people who are local and do this every single day.
- Are you learning anything new about yourself and how you lead?
Since we launched from the states, I’ve been learning new things about myself. I’ve learned my ability to love others and intentionally getting to know them well. I’ve learned that I can live in community and step into serving over leading quickly! I love hearing the hearts of others and what God is doing in them. I also love to work together with those on my team in ministry and growth in Christ, sharing our passions and giftings…encouraging them to walk in it.
