Welcome to Crossing Cambodia
This month was spent with my new team, 7 Wonders, loving on and caring for street kids. Ministry days were full and exhausting, but so rewarding. Every weekday morning at 6 the truck would go out to the river-walk, railroad tracks, and other sidewalks to pick up the children from wherever they were sleeping to be brought back to the center. Most of them were still asleep from being up all night, as they were also very dirty and stinky. After arriving at the center, they were showered and dressed in clean clothes for the day. Some of the children get ready for school and they are all fed breakfast. As some went to school, the preschool kids stayed back and we spent the mornings hanging out with them along with the staff. Late mornings the school children are picked up and brought back, all are fed lunch, then the afternoons were spent teaching English/games and songs to all the children.
I’ve learned a lot from the children here, how much they deeply care about each other!! One thing I’ve learned is how much they share with each other. These kids have to fight to live, begging on the streets for themselves and their families for money and food, sadly they will most likely grow up and always live this lifestyle. At the center, they show so much joy and laughter!
Month 5 was our time to share and care with these beautiful children of Cambodia, making a print on their hearts that I know future teams will help continue to grow. My heart feels full as God was showing me throughout the month the love He has for the children who struggle just to find their next meal. This month was also Christmas time, spent away from home. I learned so much about community and what it looks like to share family traditions and make new memories with six amazing women!
Lastly, my heart was captured for the month by a sweet boy named Poe (real name not given). He has such a big heart and so much energy, all the time! We had so much fun running back and forth with him on my shoulders making choo choo sounds. He was definitely a good eater and always loved getting showers and feeling clean. He also loves to color and run and jump in my arms! CUTIE!
