I'm Cassy and I'm a little sassy. Not really, well… ok, ok, maybe a little. It rhymes. Bios and blogging make me nervous. Shhhhh… it's a secret (the spotlight has never really been my thing).
I'm a Texas girl. Born and raised. I'm thirty-one (uhhh, did I really just announce that?) and call Bastrop/Smithville, Texas home. It's small town life at its best, but it's only 45 minutes East of Austin, "The live music capital of the world." Quite a slogan, right?
Am I blessed? You betcha! Blessed with good health, a wonderful family, genuine friends, and a magnificent heavenly Father that knows me, somehow gets me (I'm still blown away by this), and tells me I'm the apple of his eye.
I'm into travel, culture, volunteer work, and adventures. I've dreamed of doing something like The World Race since High School — the Peace Corps almost got me. You know what I'm really into, though? Jesus and some more Jesus. Yeah! You see, I'm desperately weak, totally flawed, rather odd, and completely blemished. I fall short of the knowledge I know and don't know so often. It's because of Him — the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, I can ask and receive forgiveness, ask and receive courage, ask and receive strength, and ask and receive the unconditional love, acceptance, and purpose the inner me aches for.
Some RANDOM FACTS…
1.) I've got three brothers — I'm the oldest.
There's a whopping 11 years between me and the youngest!
Stephen is twenty-five, a Trinity graduate, and an up and coming San Antonio real estate guru. Dustin is twenty-five, a University of Texas philosophy major, a passionate Austinite, and crazy talented gear head. Barrett is twenty, oozes creativity, a totally gifted photographer, and a TV and Media student at Hillsong in Sydney, Australia.
2.) I used to be part of a camping group in Austin called "The Happy Campers." We were pretty happy.
I used to go camping 2-3 weekends a month. You'd never guess it, but I love to camp!
However, let me warn you…
Primitive camping and massive backpack hauling around the world will be a new thing for me.
3.) I recently watched Pollyanna, the 1960 flick and really dug it.
*laughing at myself*
Whaaat?!? It's got a really good message! Check it out.
4.) I've been a professional Nanny, a quadriplegic caregiver/personal assistant, an art student, and a Wells Fargo bank teller.
Currently, I'm working for my folks until my January departure.
5.) I'm a total softy by nature. My eyes tear up pretty easily.
Yes, that means I cry — happy or sad, laughing or yelling. My heart is pretty pliable.
I'm learning to embrace it.
So, besides raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, these are a few of my FAVORITE THINGS…
1.) Community. Working together for the greater good.
Henry Ford once said: “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
2.) Google — I'm a googling fool.
3.) The change of seasons. Literally and metaphorically. Haha.
4.) Sweet tea, though I try to stay away from it.
5.) Popcorn! Not the microwave kind. The kind I make at my Mom and Dad's with the air popper and drizzle with this yummy butter stuff that comes in a bottle (can't possibly be good for you). Must admit, it kind of makes me happy. Okay, really happy.
6.) Crossfit workouts. What can I say? It's a love/hate thing. Google it.
7.) Laughing till my belly hurts and my eyes cry. Good times. Good times. Keeps the wrinkles away.
8.) My boy cut, broken in, holey, Gap jeans. Yes friends, they made my World Race packing list.
9.) Sliding into freshly washed sheets. There's just something about it. So fresh and so clean, clean.
10.) My Joyce Meyer Battlefield of the Mind devotional. God has used this thing to minister to me time and time again.
11.) The book Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
12.) Music, music, music! My list is long and rather eclectic. I'll spare you.
