Identity:
the state or fact of remaining the same one or ones, as under varying aspects or conditions.

-the condition of being oneself or itself, and not another.
condition or character as to who a person or what a thing is.
-the state or fact of being the same one as described.

All of my life I have asked, whether in my own private monologues or in group discussions,
“Who am I?”

My identity was a mystery as I swayed back and forth like a willow tree in the wind changing what I liked in order to fulfill my desire to appease my friends, my peers and sometimes even my family.

I didn’t know who I was, but I knew what I wanted to be:
Accepted.

My identity was anything but solid. It went in and out with the high and low tides of my life. I was up, I was down, I was here, I was there.

But not anymore.

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand.

I am discovering who I am and, quite frankly, you can either accept me or take it up with God as to why you can’t accept me as I am. I’m standing firm in the person I am.

Every day is an uphill battle as I question what the next puzzle piece is in my identity to make the larger picture of the complete person I will become.

Then, when I receive it, I have to ward off attacks from Satan as he tries to discredit the progress I just made.

But I have God on my side; and guess what that means? Oh yea, I end the day with my arms held high as a conqueror—no, more than a conqueror!

I ask. I receive. I battle. I win.
Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

So, I thought I’d take some time to tell you what I’ve discovered about my identity in Christ the past two weeks during hours of diving into God’s work during my studies every morning.

I AM…

I am a saint.
1 Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 1:1
All Christians must be saints as a character on earth or they cannot be saints of glory.I am set apart. I am separated from the world and consecrated to God.

I am not reliant on others.
“When you find your completeness in me, you can help other people without using them to meet your own needs.” (Jesus Calling)

I am more than a conqueror.
Romans 8:37
We have infinite resources of heaven at our disposal, but we live like we’re powerless, defeated and disgusted in this life. We say things like, “We’re only human.” But God says we are more than conquerors.

I am chosen.
Ephesians 1: 4-5; Jeremiah 1:5
God chose me before I even had a choice to choose him. He desired me. He chose me.

I am an elect of God.
1 Peter 1:1; Romans 8:28
“Everyone that God chose in Christ is drawn by the Spirit to Christ. Every one predestined is called by the Spirit in time, justified in time and will be glorified when the Lord comes.” (BH Carol)
I am an elect not because of anything that I have done, but because of God’s grace; and that cannot be taken away.

I am redeemed.
Ephesians 1:7
When God looked at Christ on the cross, he didn’t see the precious lamb that he sent to this world, he saw my ugly sins. I am redeemed from the ugliness of my sins through the beauty of his self-sacrifice.

I am not alone.
Acts 18:9; Deuteronomy 31:8
If I keep following where God leads me to, he will be with me. He will go before me and will be beside me. I will never be alone, despite those who may come and go beside me.

I am responsible.
Matthew 11:28; Revelation 22:17
I was given a choice and now I am responsible for the decision I make. Everyone is invited, but not all respond with responsibility to their choice. God chooses, man is responsible.

I am evangelizing.
Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16
I was commanded to “go”, so I am. Just go out and evangelize and you’ll win hearts for God, even when you don’t know the bigger plans that God has.
We need to work as if it totally depends upon us, but we have to rest knowing it depends on God.

This is just the beginning! I am so many things and do not have enough time in my day to type out the revelation and scripture to all that I have discovered that I am!

But, here’s a“quick” list of ones I have written on a page in my journal.
