11/24/10

The past few days have been really incredible. We found out that our ministry for next month is up to us to figure out. Allan received an email from the squad leaders about the seven different options but he chose to have us pray about what we should do instead of telling us the options so that we could really hear from the Lord. I am so thankful that he decided to step out in faith and do it this way because I know my own selfish desires would have gotten in the way and hindered the decision that God wanted for me and my team. We began by praying together as a team on Saturday night. We wanted to clear our minds of distractions and our own selfish ambitions so that we could clearly hear the voice of the Lord and what He wanted to speak into existence. We spent over an hour praying and listening to specific things that He was telling us. When we were finished praying, we talked about some of the recurring themes that were brought up and we wrote them down so that we could continue praying and seeking confirmation in these things. We came back together Sunday night and talked about things that may have been confirmed in us during that day through prayer and quiet time.

These are some of the things the Lord was speaking to us:

·         boldness–to ask, to be uncomfortable

·         confidence

·         perseverance–swimming in an ocean…not breathing (focus)

·         desire for team depth, intimacy

·         walk by faith

·         watch God work

·         door-to-door evangelism

·         deliver a baby (dove)

·         raise the dead

·         sitting in the Lord’s presence (patience)

o   to help understand

o   hear His voice

·         do something fun as a team

·         attacks from the enemy

·         hope

I got some pretty cool confirmation later that night when I was talking to a friend from home later that night. He shared these two verses with me before I had even told him anything about what we were praying about (thanks D wags J)!!

“For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.â€  –Romans 8:24-25

“Look among the nations, and see, wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.â€    –Habakkuk 1:5

I’m so thankful that we have a God who speaks to each and every one of us–we just have to listen and trust!!

…stay tuned to find out where we end up for the month of December!
