1/4/10

Today was officially our first day of ministry in the
Philippines. We are living on the property of Kids International Ministries. We
cleaned up trash around the property this morning, and in the afternoon we
pulled weeds out in the huge soccer field. As we were pulling weeds, Greg asked
what parable it reminded us of. Allan gave his answer and they continued
talking as I walked off to the side away from everyone else and asked God to
speak to me.

I realized as I was pulling weeds that you have to be sure to
get out the whole root-otherwise it will grow back. You can’t just pull off the
top part above the ground, you actually have to dig down deep and pull it all
out. I think that is so true in our lives too. When we are struggling with sin
or other issues in our lives, we must recognize the root of the sin so that we
can allow God to deal with it and GET RID OF IT!! We can’t just try to take
away the top part that looks bad on the surface-we must also dig down deep
inside ourselves and discover the root or driving factor causing us to sin. The
more we pull out and deal with and get rid of, the more God can replace with
good things that will produce fruit. Just some food for thought…
