In Nicaragua, our ministry contacts were teaching us about the
redemptive gifts and how God uses each and every one of our different gifts for
His glory. The gifts are: prophet, servant, teacher, exhorter, giver, ruler,
and mercy. After learning about each of the redemptive gifts, I found that I
have the gift of mercy.

The following are a few characteristics of the mercy gift:

ability to feel
life-not just do it

highest ministry for the deeply wounded

sanctify time through blessing

live in holiness-dominion over sin

worship God in all aspects of life

when painful things come up, mercy tends to push them back
down-we must learn how to bring them out, hold them, and allow God to deal with
them

let generosity flow from love

fulfillment-accomplishing God’s purpose in life

slow processor-looks deep inside

mercy is called to erase the line between secular and
religious realms–ability to go into bars and other dark places and be
Jesus to people

bring God’s presence to earth

[speaks the language of the heart]

At debrief, one of my squadmates, Nikki, received visions for
each person on the squad and for me she said she saw a sword or an arrow stuck
in a heart and it means I have the power to reach people that others can’t and
I can pull out the hard things that people have pushed deep down inside of
them. I think this goes along with the gift of mercy that God has given me for
people. I can definitely see how God has already been using my gift so far and
I’m excited for what else He has in store for me this year!
