When Jesus called his disciples saying, “Follow me,” they immediately left what they were doing
and followed him. They didn’t question him or look at the circumstances. They
didn’t try to plan everything out. They literally dropped whatever they were
doing and just simply went-trusting that he would take care of them wherever he
took them. What if we had this kind of faith?! When God calls us to something,
He wants us to do the same. We ought not be anxious or worried about how we
will get there, where they money will come from, etc. but rather we should TRUST Him because His will for our
lives is perfect.
When Jesus walked on water, he called Peter to come out of the
boat and join him. According to Matthew 14:29-30, “Peter got out of the boat
and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was
afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord , save me.’ Jesus immediately
reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O you of little
faith, why did you doubt?'”
When Jesus calls us, why do we doubt?
“When Jesus calls us to come, he is calling us out into a
future we cannot walk without him.” [Erwin McManus, Wide Awake]
Why do we take our eyes off of Jesus?
Are you willing to leave behind what’s good for something
that’s better?
Sometimes in life things come along that look or seem really
good. But what if God had something even better for you waiting just around the
corner?
Are you willing to wait patiently on the Lord and TRUST Him?
What seems like the best choice from the world’s standards may
not be God’s best for you.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be
made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7
I love this promise of God’s peace–I can’t even fathom a
peace that surpasses all understanding. God is so big and so good that we don’t
have to understand it, we just need to GO
when He calls us and TRUST that His
plans and purposes are far greater than anything we could ever come up with on
our own. It may not make sense at the time, but God is faithful to reveal His
will for our lives, and we must choose to listen
and obey.
