Last Thursday, we arrived in Los Pinos early for ministry so
I decided to take out my Bible and read for awhile as I sat on the corner of
the colegio where we do ministry. There is an incredible view that looks out
over the village and it is definitely my favorite place to sit, read, and pray.
I love having time to just get quiet with God before we begin ministry there.
As I was sitting there, I was debating what to read and I decided to read
through Nehemiah. God definitely began speaking to me about some things
involving Nehemiah’s life.

First of all, Nehemiah was a prayer warrior. I want to be
like him and follow his example-he fasted and prayed over the rebuilding of the
wall. He apologized and repented for the people’s sins. He remembered that
“…God will fight for us” (Nehemiah 4:20). He bowed his head, face to the
ground, and worshiped the Lord. He knew that the joy of the Lord was his
strength. He knew that God is faithful
and He sustains. He experienced God’s deliverance.

I really feel like this is how I need to be praying for Los
Pinos. Nehemiah worshiped God on his face and was so broken over what was going on,
and he knew God wanted it to be rebuilt and restored. That is my prayer for Los
Pinos. I know God is going to use this family we’re working with-just
a matter of weeks ago, they were on the streets stealing, begging, hungry,
doing drugs and now they’re in church and following Christ. They have the most
potential to impact their community and ultimately change it for the glory of God!
