We have safely arrived in Kenya! We stayed in Nairobi two nights with the whole squad and then left for our ministry sites.
Our team is in Malava, Kenya for the month. We are staying in a beautiful farm house, with the Pastor and his family. There is nothing around us but farmland and a few houses and churches. It is so refreshing to have peace and quiet.
So far we walk everywhere we go because there is not much transportation in the area we are staying.
We are doing door to door evangelism and preaching again this month. Everyone we have met so far is very nice and they are always saying "you're welcome" to welcome us everywhere we go!
There are a few phrases we use a lot already and some you may find familiar because of the loved Lion King.
Jumbo- Hello!
Asanti Sana- Thank you very much!
Rafiki- Friend
Hakuna Matata- No worries
Cariboo- You're Welcome
Cariboo Tena- You're welcome again
Simba- Lion
The past two mornings we have been able to take hot half-bucket showers. They boil water for us and it has been so refreshing taking warm showers! It is surprisingly cool here at night time and in the mornings, so I have been sleeping with leggings, socks, a jacket and my sleeping bag liner (acting like it's 30 degrees out lol).
Kenya is a beautiful country and I'm excited for the month of ministry here!
Update:
Our team got tested for Malaria and I do not have it, praise the Lord! Thank you for your prayers! Andrew however has a small trace of it, but he is ok. Pray his medicine would continue to keep him from feeling the effects of it.
