Hey guys! My full name is Cassandra Lynn Hendrix but I go by Cassie. I am 23 years old and I live in Indiana. I have two older sisters, Katie (25) who is married and is a stay at home mom and Jessica (24) who is a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. My mom, Shelley is at home with health issues and my dad, Rob is a teacher at J Everett Light Career Center. I want to share some of my story and the path that brought me to The World Race. I went to Mercy Ministries (a program for girls with life controlling issues) in April 2011 after plummeting to an all time low in 2010. I had many addictions, hurts and lies that consumed my life and I was suppressing the truth of God and His great love. Before I arrived at Mercy I had turned my back on God and ran from Him so many times that I had no hope or vision for my life. While at Mercy, God literally pulled me out of the pit that I was in and set my feet upon His firm foundation. I was shown His love in action, and His love is what truly transformed my life and set me free! The more I learned about Him, the more the desires of my heart began to change. He showed me who I am in Christ and that I can forgive myself and others for all the things that happened in my life. He showed me His goodness and that He is a God who loves me and truly wants what is best for me and He showed me He was and is with me through everything I have ever gone through and will ever go through. He freed me from all the addictions and bondages that kept me enslaved. God filled my heart with the desire to live for Him and share with others who He really is and what He wants to do for them!
That's where The World Race comes in! A friend of mine mentioned it to me, and after reading about the trip I knew in my heart I was supposed to go. God opened doors financially for me to secure a spot and I knew my life was about to drastically change.
