We are in Europe!! When we got off the plane it was -1 degrees celcius and snowing. It was beautiful.
We walked to the bus stop and rode a city bus a little ways to our hostel where we stayed with the squad for three nights before heading to our locations for the month.
It was good to rest and relax after many travel days. On Tuesday our team moved to our location which we were able to walk to from the hostel. So our "travel day" was pretty easy. We found out some of the team was staying in an apartment with a married couple and two girls were going across the street to stay with five Latvian women.
Alyssa, one of our squad leaders, is with us this month so her and I got chosen to stay at the other apartment.
So this month I am sleeping on a fold out couch that's right by a window with a beautiful view! We have met three of the five women so far, their names are Justine (23), Lianne (26) and Renate (26). Renate has a heart for India so I have alrweady gotten to share with her about our time there and show her pictures. Justine is super fun and says she loves to talk but I think she's not jumping into that just yet, I'm excited for when she does. Lianne works at a home for abused and neglected children which we are hoping to spend some time at this month.
It's so wonderful how not only are we here working with a church, but even the people we live with God gives us the opportunity to minister to and love on.
The buildings here are beautiful and when I walk I feel like I'm in a winter wonderland!
So far I am loving Riga, but our team is scheduled to only be here for two weeks and then we are traveling to two other places over the course of the last two weeks of the month.
