So World race travel day WHOOOO! best thing in the world…
This is the random experiences
So in Nepal, lets just say there are issues.
Due to riots in Nepal we had to leave a little early to sneak to the airport so that means leaving 4 in the morning to the airport. Well good news is we made it, but only to wait and trudge.
Basically the whole travel day was to wait and trudge!
India Airport…
Walk into and there is a store full of perfumes and good smelling things, first world race response head for the free samples. We all actually smelled good for the first time in 9 months, that’s how we roll
So we fly into Moscow and if you have ever seen world racer on travel day it is not a pretty sight, well for Q squad =) and as we go through customs we walk in and talk about classy travelers. High class travelers, even the stores were like whoa! and we were a mob of stink the India free sample perfume wore of by this point. As we walked through the airport world race instinct find a spot to set up camp for a few hours. Heads turned as we trudged through the Russian airport… only on the world race.
Dream house hostel…
the title explains is all… dream house =)
Real toilets, real bed (the best bed I have ever slept on) HOT SHOWER! First hot shower in 9 months and literally almost burnt my flesh of but it was the greatest thing. I may have shed a few tears sitting on the toilet and standing in the steaming hot shower =)
… and then Culture shock started to set in =O okay it’s the scariest thing…
so we decide to go to the grocery store in Kiev, dumbest idea straight from third world to a developed city. We are going to go get lunch at the store and make it ourselves, well just sandwiches. We get to the store and scariest thing ever it was a real store, like a legit grocery store. Weirdest site ever, look us about 10 minutes to all decide on a juice everyone’s eyes were wide open a little bit of panic and terror in them.
Here’s where my culture shock all started to set in… THE CHEESE ISLE! they sent me to go get cheese for our sandwiches almost had a little break down there were like so many cheese selections all the prices were all different I didn’t know the exchange rate the people were white but no one spoke English which was seriously the weirdest thing and it took me at least 5 minutes just to pick on kind of cheese. I don’t even want to tell you about the toiletry isle!
This has probably been the most culture shock I had in while because everything was so.. so… so.. Nice!
Wish you could have seen our facial expressions when we arrived to our contacts house! its like taking a child into a candy store for the very first time. Pure amazement.
Makes me wonder why I wasn’t so thankful to have all these at home.. I guess you don’t realize good it is till its gone…
Our contact is amazing, they are really such a blessing even just for speaking English beautiful family Beautiful home.
