I did a lot of things in Nepal (Month 2 of the race) that I thought would have happened later in my journey: I bungee jumped off the 2nd highest jump in the world, got stuck in a scary Buddhist parade, and got a tattoo.
Many of you probably knew that I got a tattoo in Kathmandu (this is sounding like a Dr. Seuss book, so I’m just gonna keep going with it)
The reasons for tattoos can be silly you see
But this was way more serious for me
Tattoos can be spur of the moment, rebellious, or crazy
But I had no intentions of being spur of the moment, rebellious, or crazy
For a long time I’ve loved the sign
The resembles forever, eternity, and infinite time
The Lord says to me:
I will betroth you to me forever
I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and in compassion
I will betroth you in faithfulness
As it says in Hosea Two: Nineteen
I had a revelation of marrying Jesus suddenly
That He is infinitely the groom that has won
And He will show his love to the one called “not my loved one”
I needed a sign to remind me of this confession
That slowly turned into a magnificent lover obsession
To tell me every day that I walk down the aisle
To my groom
To my lover
To my Jesus
And To my mate
Who has created this tiny figure eight
That will never disappear or fade
Even when my wedding bands slip over my finger
I will still know of His unending compassion that lingers
Forever and always
Until death does not do us part
He will remain the first thing in my heart.
Amen.
I am infinitely, infinitely, infinitely the bride of Christ.
