I know there are probably a lot of people out there that might be confused as to what I am actually doing, or think I’m doing the world race over again or don’t exactly understand what a Squad Leader exactly is! I’ve tried to rack my brain on the blog I wanted to write to truly describe what I will be doing for the next 9 months and I was stumped on how I wanted to explain it! The 47 people on Q squad are divided into 6 teams! There are 3 squad leaders: myself, Kevin and Emily! Together as a team we help lead the squad but we oversee two teams a piece ! I do ministry, team times and a lot of one on ones with my two teams! It’s an opportunity to give our two teams more devoted time and so they can build closer relationships with their squad leader! This way we can really walk through life with our teams over the next season of their life! So I figured what better way to describe a squad leader than to have my two teams tell you what they see a squad leader as!

Team Testify:

Lillian- a squad leader is someone who keeps us on track spiritually and guides us through team times. They also are our friends who we can talk to about anything. They are pretty much the best leaders a racer could ask for!

AK (Anna Katherine)-  Cassie is like the coolest older sister that hangs out with us, walks us through what life looks like on the race, looks out for us, is there if we need someone to talk to… and a lot more. Basically what you guys need to know is Cassie is a baller and we love her so much.

Kaileigh- someone who works alongside you. They guide you, but they also are willing to work with you during your hard times. They want to know how you’re doing, no matter if it’s good or bad. They love to have fun and hang out, but they know what they’re responsibilities are and they complete them.

Emmy- an older sibling or mentor that can guide us along our adventure that they once did themselves. They remind us to laugh in hard times, remind us why we chose this journey, and push us to become more. They are the ones that have paved the roads before us and push us to make our own road for others.

Destiny- spiritual leader who has gone before us! A friend and confidant who has wisdom to help move you through little brush fires or big storms that come along. An uplifter who sets a prime example to the rest of us of how we should live our daily lives

Luba- a leader but also a friend. A friend that will listen to me when I have a break down. A friend that will speak into my life and uplift me. A friend that’s not just here to lead me but also guide me in life and someone who really cares about me.

Emily- a squad leader is a person, just like us racers-they were a racer once too! They may be older and wiser but we are one family, brothers and sisters of Christ. I’m so blessed for the wisdom they have as they use it to guide us through this journey! They are more than just someone to look up to, they are someone who will be a forever friend and encourager.

Team Sisters:

Avery-a squad leader is someone that helps us walk into everything that the World Race can be. They are really good at encouraging us to press into the difficult times and seeking everything that the Lord is calling us to. They’re people that lead us but also go to where we are and pursue us so well. Cassie loves us so well and is like the older sister that we always want to hang out with and go to for advice!

Hallie- Technically a squad leader is our leader, someone who organizes our logistics and problems (I think) but to me a squad leader is a person of comfort and safety. Cassie encourages us and leads us fearlessly towards the Lord. We love her.

Mack- a squad leader is … CASSIE!! I’m not actually that sure what a squad leader is, but because of the example Cassie has set a squad leader is.. cool, a mom figure, a person who listens to you, cares for you, keeps you accountable, tells you stories, picks you up when you are down, but most of all a friend. Cassie is so kind, she is a light to this squad. When she walks in the room you can feel the warmth radiating from her. Although she is an authority figure, she does such a good job at making us feel comfortable and free, all while doing a great job at demanding respect.

Sarah- a squad leader is someone to look up to. Cassie has been such a good example of this; a person that you can look up to and see as a role model while also being someone that you can easily relate to and befriend. A squad leader is someone to help guide you through the highs and lows throughout our journey and to help encourage us no matter what. Cassie has been such an amazing friend, leader, influence, parental figure & role model. We all love her so much!!

Tierney- a squad leader is the person who roast you in the best ways, the person you can go to and cry with then laugh about whatever you were crying about because you may have been a tad dramatic. A squad leader is a real lady or gentleman and always knows what to say or if they don’t they do a pretty good job making it seem they do. I love you cass!!

Taylor- a squad leader is someone who is there for you and helps lead you through a lot. A squad leader knows how to lead us and answer questions we have. They are like a parent in a way and help you through the tough times and the fun times. The person who is there to make you laugh and be the shoulder to cry on. Squad leaders are the best people to get to know and love!!

Maggie- a squad leader is someone who leads the squad lol obviously!!!! No but actually a squad leader is someone that leads us! They go out of their way to serve us and serve us well. A squad leader knows the answers to all of your questions and all of your problems. They are there to help and listen and give advice and pray for you. Squad leaders are the best, especially Cassie 🙂

Alexandra- a squad leader is not just a leader but a friend. Cassie is the best at being a friend but also being a leader and loving us well. She, and other squad leaders, always point us higher and lead us to the Lord. They are here for us when we have questions and are confused or when we are sad and homesick or even when we are super happy and just wanna hang out. Squad leaders get to come with us during our ministry days and not only serve with us but oversee what we do and pour out their wisdom on us. Cassie is such a strong Godly woman. I have loved getting to know her and love that she is my leader and friend. Thanks for being amazing Cassie.  You’re the best.

Hope you guys enjoyed this! Truly love each one of these girls and so glad God chose me to do life with them for the next 9 months!

With much love,

Cassie
