Deja vu!!
It’s the weirdest feeling but the most thrilling feeling to be on this side of launch! I think back to the last season and I was a completely terrified 22 year old thinking “what in the world did I just get myself into!” I was surrounded by 50 racers that I had only met briefly at training camp! I was saying goodbye to my friends, my work and most of all my family! It was all the unknown!
But now here I am at launch a confident, excited eager 25 year old who knows without a doubt I am in the center of Gods will! I know that I get to spend the next nine months of my life pouring into the 47 18-20 year old Gap Year racers of Q Squad! I get to watch as the Lord radically changes their lives for the better just like he did mine!
This week I was telling a fellow squad leader Kayleigh how I got to this point of squad leading and my journey that brought me here! I was telling her that before applying I was struggling between going back to school or squad leading! I began to tell her that my heart really wants to be a teacher! It’s something that makes me so happy and excited but I know Squad Leading Q Squad is the path that the Lord has for me right now, so I’m not sure if teaching will ever be something I do! That ultimately I just want to serve where ever the Lord needs me whether that be around the world or in a classroom! She smiled and responded with, “It’s interesting that you say that! Because for the next 9 months you are going to be teaching! I think the Lord wants to give us the desires of our hearts but sometimes it might look alittle different than what we expect!!” My mind was blown! I had never thought of it this way! I had never fully stepped back and looked at what the Lord was truly giving me! Teaching can look so many different ways, it might not be in your typical classroom setting! It can come in all different forms!
So for the next nine months I can not wait to step into what the Lord has for me! I can’t stop smiling thinking about the Lord giving me the desires of my heart! I am so over the moon excited to be spending the next season of life TEACHING, helping, guiding and loving on Gap Q!
