I can not believe today I prepare to leave for Month 3 already! This month I have realized how truly grateful and blessed I am that God has picked me for this opportunity!! Missions can be hard and draining, but at the end of the day there is truly no greater feeling!!
This month has been a month of exhaustion, frustration, adventures, rewarding moments, and life changing experiences!!
This month had a lot of firsts for me! My first time to mix concrete by hand and lay a foundation for a building, first time to harvest corn, feed chickens, and pick beans! My first time to teach, give piano lessons, create a puppet show, drive a right hand car, and my first time to go to Victoria Falls! First time to eat bunny chow and the first time to help lead an assembly!
This month was a month of stepping out of our comfort zone and encouraging our team members to do the same! It’s been a month of reminding ourselves when the temperature is 110 and we are overly exhausted that patience is a virtue! It’s been a month of true bonding I believe for our team!!
Last but not least it’s been a month of making amazing memories I will never forget! Who would have thought we would come all the way to Botswana to connect with a team of 14 guys from the Bible Theological College in Johannesburg, South Africa! For the last week they have worked along side us on our construction project!! We have all got to work along side one another, encourage one another and remind one another how blessed we truly are!! I have been blown away by the hearts of these guys! They come from a culture that doesn’t value women but they realize as sons of God that women deserve to be valued and respected! They display Gods love in everything they do! They have made us AMAZING meals, helped us do dishes, always insist that we do everything first, and buy us chocolate bars and muffins just to say thank you! We have sat around the bonfire for hours sharing our heart, teaching them how to make s’mores, telling our testimonies, and worshipping together!! I have been in awe with God and the situations he has brought these guys through to get them to where they are today! Saving some of them from drugs, prison, alcoholism, suicide attempts, and toxic relationships! They have been an amazing reminder to our team of girls how amazing and powerful our God is! How he can take something so broken and make a masterpiece to glorify his kingdom!!
I am truly excited to see what the next 9 months holds for myself and my team!! I can’t wait to see how God is going to work and the people he is going to place in our paths!! I can’t wait to see what other life long connections I am going to make!
