John 1:14

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Why do I ‘FOLLOW THE WORD‘?

I’m glad you asked. 🙂

Truth.

There are THREE major first principles in place when we think about this concept, but I am only somewhat familiar with the first two.

1. The law of Non Contradiction– Nothing can exist and not exist in the same time and same sense; or no statement is both true and false. (The difference between things/thoughts ‘A’ and ‘Not A’)

Since Christianity claims to be the ONLY way to God,
it cannot coincide with other religious beliefs
.

So, since I know it is reasonable to believe that Jesus resurrected (video below), I must be consistent with my truth claims.

The Relative Worldview states-“What is true for you is not true for me.” This sort of phrasing can only poke on matters of opinion- ketchup or mustard. Beliefs, religions, that are stated as fact do NOT fall into the category of opinionTruth claims must be true or false. (Even ELMO knows this.)

2. The law of IdentityEverything is the same as itself. (A is A)

A car can be both red and blue, but not in the same time and same sense. An elephant is not a rope or a wall, it is an animal with a tail and a large abdomen.

“This is important because it tells us that reality has a definite nature, and it cannot have any contradictions. Since reality has an identity, it is knowable.”

God is either good or evil- contradicting characteristics cannot both be true. God has an identity, and we CAN know Him! He gave us His Holy Spirit as our help. (John 14:26)
Likewise, God cannot exist and not exist. God cannot be all powerful and not, He is either timeless, immaterial, all powerful, and all-knowing or He isn’t God.  ()

*It is good to understand these things because “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God”. (2 Cor. 10:4-5)*

SO…Here is why I follow The Word:

Not only is it reasonable to believe that God exists and that the Resurrection happened, but I have experienced, seen, read, and heard of Jesus love. It makes sense- I can know the source of Life and Love. His glory is shown in creation, in relationships, in intellectual pursuits and in miraculous events. So, as He says GO, I go.

So hey, I am going to follow Jesus because He is worthy.
Also, He leads me very, very well.

Peace!

Casey

*Most of what I know about the laws of thought was brought to my attention by Peter Bocchino who co-wrote “Unshakable Foundations” with Norman Geisler.
