What do you do when you know you’re called somewhere and you thirst and hunger to be where God wants you to be but everything is stopping you from it?
What do you do when you know now is not the time?
What do you do when you aren’t really sure when the time is and your only answer is “eventually?” What do you do when you know you’re called to a certain area of the world but you have no idea what you’re called to do (besides spread Gods goodness and love.)
What do you do when the area you’re called to speaks a language you are not (yet) fluent in.
The answer is trust.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5 NIV)”
I knew from the very first day I got to Ecuador, that I was home.
I knew it immediately, but I didn’t know why.
In June, God revealed to me (through a listening prayer) that he is going to give me Ecuador.
He said to me:
“I have great big plans for you my daughter and I need you to continue to be willing to receive what I have to give you. Yes, I am going to give you Ecuador but I am also giving you more than that.”
“I know your heart my faithful daughter I will give you what you ask for. You love me and you are highly favored.”
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4 NIV)”
When I was still processing all that God had told me I talked with our squad mentor Mama C and I said to her:
“I think, God WANTED me to ask him for it. He’s known my path since the beginning of time, correct? Since before I was knit together in my mothers womb. (Psalm 139:14) So if he knew that, he knew I was going to be in Ecuador. So, I think that he knew what my path was and he wanted me to desire it, he wanted me to want it SO bad that I asked him for it. He wanted me to beg him. And I surely did. I constantly begged him for it.”
After my one on one with Mama C I talked to my best friend and team mate, Sandra, about what God recently revealed to me while talking to Mama C and Sandra said “Exactly! He wants you to be bold enough to ask him for what you want”
Which I was like OF COURSE!
Boldness is something that God really wants me to learn!
Everything about Ecuador feels right but the only thing I’m SURE about is Ecuador.
I have no idea about when.
I have no idea about what.
I have no idea about how.
I have no idea about how long.
I have no idea about any of the logistical parts of any of it.
And that’s okay.
God tells me that’s okay because He has it all covered!
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (Psalm 32:8 NIV)”
Throughout this whole process I have learned a lot about patience and trusting God because even if I’m confused or lost or not sure what he’s showing me.
He will eventually reveal it to me when he feels I am ready and when it’s time for me to understand.
Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” (John 13:7)
