I don't get this statement:
"What's in it for me?"
That breaks my heart to hear that, in ANY situation.
Alas, This is how many people are responding to my fundraising attempts.
I'm a giving person by nature.
I can give without worrying about receiving anything in return.
I can give without people asking.
I understand that's rare to do, but why are people so selfish that they need something in return?
In looking for people to donate, I am lucky to have some very good family and friends willing to help with fundraising! (Thank you to those who have helped so far!)
Although, I'm still having a hard time finding much money and my Dad wanted to help by calling the local churches around town.
So I wrote up a list of about 10 churches he can call and he called them all this morning and unfortunately, He has gotten nothing but negative feedback.
Churches say "We only help people that go to our church"
and my dad says well "Can I send you her letter and you can add her to your prayer list" and they flat out and very harshly say no.
I find it so hard to accept that a church, of ANY kind, isn't even willing to pray for a missionary.
Sadly, My own church is even unable to support me.
How can churches ask so much of us and when we ask for anything in returned we are immediately denied?
Are churches not about serving God? I can't think of a stronger way to serve God than to be a missionary.
I'll admit it, I'm clearly struggling.
Struggling with finding enough money to go on my trip.
Struggling with getting the equipment I need.
Struggling with not getting angry or discouraged
Struggling with letting God take the reigns.
I know that I will go on this trip.
I know that I will be spending almost all of 2014 with my Y-Squad.
and I know that God will provide
and I know all of this because God asked me to go on this trip.
God put this trip on my heart and God will bless me.
I am following God's will and "Thy will be done"-Matthew 6:10
I ask for your prayers.
Prayers that when I feel lost of anxious or scared that I will remember this scripture:
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7
