Sitting here in Da Nang, Vietnam catching up on emails, I came across the September newsletter of my home church in Charlotte, North Carolina.  As I read about all that the Lord is doing in and through Back Creek Church, I saw something that filled my heart with joy and my eyes with tears. The Church graciously hosted the 2015 Bhutanese Nepali Youth Revival Conference at the beginning of August where several youth chose to commit their lives to the one true God. Less than a year ago this is one of those things that I would probably have paid very little attention to; but today, it made me cry.

In ways that only the Lord can fully explain, my heart is forever tied to the Nepali people; not just because of an earthquake, but because of who they are. Because I have seen and experienced for myself the love and strength and resilience of these people, and I am convinced that God IS bringing revival the nation of Nepal and the people who call it their homeland.

I am humbled and overwhelmed with joy to know that my own ‘home’ is loving and supporting these people as well. It is a reminder that the Lord uses each of us to show His big, ‘I’ve-got-the-whole-world-in-My-hands’ kind of love, whether we are teaching English at a children’s home in Cambodia or collecting backpacks and boxes of food at a church in North Carolina. It is an encouragement to me as I begin Month 9 of my World Race that was made possible largely to the generosity of faithful members of Back Creek. And I hope it is an inspiration, to “run with perseverance the race marked out for us,” no matter what your Race may look like.

Thank you, Back Creek, for being the hands and feet of Jesus exactly where He has planted you.  And all praise to God, who does all of these things for the glory of His holy Name.

“I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all His holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus.  I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.  Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”
(Philemon 1:4-7)

With love and wanderlust,
Cassady

Taken on May 13th, the day after the second earthquake, this picture shows some precious Nepali girls who hiked all the way up the mountain to bring my friends and I gifts of berries and flowers.
