I’ve been in church buildings since I was in my mother’s womb. Before leaving for the building I’ve walked past family who needed prayer. Driving to the building, I’ve passed the homes of people who were laid with depression and guilt. Walking up the building’s steps I’ve passed drunks and druggies, homeless. In the building I’ve sat on my pew passing up the broken one a few seats behind.
We as a nation have allowed the building to get in the way of the church. Many of us only experience “church” when we go to the building on Sundays or Wednesday nights.
Go with me for a moment. Erase your idea of church. Remove the building and just be the church.
Quit letting “church” get in the way of you becoming the church God has chosen each of us to be. You want to see Kingdom come? Get to know Jesus. Receive His love. Study His ministry. Find a community. Encourage. Rebuke. Love. Respect. Dream. Build Up.
Now walk outside. Look to your left, to your right, in front, behind.
GO.
Make disciples.
Sit with the drunk.
Invite the hungry for a meal.
Make friends with those outside your comfort zone.
Speak life over your town and people.
Pray over the sick.
Bring freedom to those in bondage.
Act in your gifting.
