I can still remember sitting in the class room of my first grade teacher Mrs. Mooningham Greenville, Kentucky. Tallest in the class, I still sat in the front to be by my teacher’s side. I passed out the hand outs, graded papers and such. I even got to help her put smiley faces on the behavior chart. And when class was over I was late to the bus from begging Mrs. Mooningham for extra work.
Some may have called me a brown noser or teacher’s pet. I admit I was but I also had a strong desire to be a teacher. At age twelve I was still playing with my dolls during free time. I would line them up. By this age I had many extra work packets to use for my school. I made folders for each of my dolls and would have them do their work. Everyone didn’t get an A because everyone’s work wasn’t A worthy.
While I didn’t go to university to become a teacher, God still manages to place me in classrooms all over the world. And when I’m not all over the world, I’m in Eastern, KY teaching students from all over the world.
This month my team, Fullness of One, will be working in a safe house for young girls who have been victims of sex trade. After asking the fifteen girls their greatest interest, most of them expressed the desire to learn English. Well
Mr. M is now in Cambodia.
On Monday I will be a teacher once again.
