This ATL (Ask the Lord) month has taught me to truly trust the Lord.  In response to Jeanne Bensch’s blog “I don’t feel called but”http://jeannebensch.theworldrace.org/?filename=i-dont-feel-calledbut , I’ve learned that if I just get off the couch and out doors God will provide divine appointments.  If I wait around for ministry to look like what I want, I might end up with a month of pure laziness.

It happened to be an off day.  Jeanne and I had plans to visit Prague castle.  We weren’t quite sure which direction to go so we asked someone.  She couldn’t speak English but from the midst of a conversation a Canadian woman with a stroller turns around and offers to walk us there.  A beautiful walk through the castle grounds led us to tell her about our journey.  We were able to share with her that we’ve learned this year that God longs for a relationship with us, not religion.

That night Jeanne decided that she wanted to make a funny Rock and Roll video.  I braided and teased her hair causing somewhat of a mohawk.  I even put ridiculous make up on her face and we were out the door recording various shots.  In our last shot we were coming up the escalator and Jeanne’s hair had the attention of a group of young college students.  They quickly jumped in her video.  They had so much joy.  Their excitement for the video led to a conversation about God.  We told them that God loves them right were they are.  His love is eternal and isn’t based on our behavior.  There was one boy who stood out.  It seemed as if he had been searching for something for a long time and had just found the answer.  He asked so many questions about our trip.

We could have sat in the house all day but we would have missed out on the conversations God has planned for us.  Ministry doesn’t need to look like a church event, or an oversees mission trip.  Ministry happens in everyday life.  It happens through an outpour of love.
