GREETINGS
There are 3 major ethnicities in Malaysia: Chinese, Malay and Indian

Indian men will use handshake and also the Namaste.

PERSONAL SPACE AND TOUCHING
They prefer standing at least arms length.  There is some touching with close friends of the same sex.

VIEWS OF TIME
They are relaxed.  More emphasis on people, relational rather than set schedules and deadlines.  Showing up a little late for a party is common.

GENDER ISSUES
Women make up a decent part of the workforce.  They are 2nd to male counterparts in responsibilities, salaries and status.  Women avoid revealing clothing and heavy make up.
GUESTURES
They beckon by extending arm and making scratch motion with fingers.  Beckoning or pointing with finger is bad.  Using your thumbs with the rest of fingers clenched in fist is way to go.  Always use right hand only to pass or receive object.

TABOOS

Avoid touching or passing object over top of anyone’s head as it is viewed as most sacred body part.  Pounding your fist into palm and of other hand may be obscene.
