After serving Pastor Elisha, an awesome man of God from Deliverance Church, our team found it difficult to leave Kisimu. Deliverance Church had been our family for a month. Ministry felt so natural there. Members of the church said sad goodbyes and presented us with gifts the night before our departure. Pastor Elisha came Monday morning to hurry us out the door so we wouldn’t be late. He was ever so protective of us, his daughters. We were sad to say goodbye to him but knew it was time to embrace our Tanzanian contact and his family.
This morning we woke to Leisa on the phone with our squad leader, Noe. She was screaming with joy just learning our team would be returning to Kenya. We would be serving Pastor Abraham Lutome at the border of Tanzania and Kenya. God’s hands were all over this from the beginning.
Pastor Abraham is an associate of Elisha Odoch, the pastor of Deliverance Church in Kisimu, Kenya. In our travels from the Kenya borders to Mwanza, Tanzania, Pastor Abraham jumped in the vehicle to assist us and relieve Pastor Elisha. That morning teasing his wife he said, “I’m sleeping in Mwanza tonight. See you tomorrow.” Little did he know then he would be sleeping in Mwanza after accompanying us to our contact’s home. Instead of leaving first thing in the morning, we met him on the road as he had just prayed at the beautiful church on a hill. He took breakfast with us and spoke blessings over us before leaving. We knew there was something amazing about this man. Somehow we knew this wasn’t our last time seeing him.
While we thought we’d be serving in Mwanza for one month, God broke the rules. He fixed it so that after one week we’d be traveling to Isebania, Kenya to serve Pastor Abraham and his Deliverance Church.
