1. Wake up and greet the bugs attached to my mat.
2. Eat a bowl of cereal swallowing a few bugs I thought were raisins.
3. Go on a morning walk thru the rainforest admiring God’s beauty, all the while swatting bugs.
4. Take a cold shower to rid the heat- singing to the spiders, bugs and geicos on the wall.
5. Do playgroup with the children outside, pulling the bugs out of the glue before they paste.
6. Tell Norman my name a million times and remind him while swatting the bugs that I’m sleeping in the church.
7. Walk thru the rainforest to the gorge for a swim, counting the 15 fish of all shapes and sizes and bugs circling around me.
8. Sweep the bugs off the floor after dinner.
9. Lay my mat on the floor beside Sissy, whacking the bugs off the mat all the while jumping into a chair after seeing the mouse and lizard run across the floor.
10. Close my eyes and pretend to sleep as the fan blows cold air and dead bugs in my face.
11. The moment I’ve fallen asleep, get woke up by all 5 of my teammates to use the restroom since we can’t go by ourselves in the dark. Bugs fly into our faces the moment we open the door.
12. Swat the bugs and start all over again.
This list was purely for your enjoyment. While we do have many insects, rodents and such running around we are grateful to have somewhere to rest our heads at night. We are quite aware that there are many living in far worse conditions than we are. God has used this 115 degree farenheit heat to bring our team closer together. We have been praying for the aboriginals in Mossman Gorge. We will be prayerwalking through this community everyday.
God is allowing us to build closer relationships with these Kuku Yulanji people.
