It’s so amazing to know that God loves us through how much He reaches out to us even when we aren’t paying attention to Him. Just when we think He stopped caring He still carries out the plans He has for our lives and reaches out again. He whispers to our hearts a melody we only know. A melody for His call on our lives. He tells us over and over that He has a plan for us. A plan for us to prosper; for a hope and a future.(Jeremiah 29:11) Why do you think that is one of the most memorized verses of all time? Even among the unsaved. Even though we’re not listening, God is giving us the melody of a calling to our hearts.
How could I possibly live out the calling God has on my life? He’s always implementing things through out our lives to reveal that calling. Mine is to be a missionary. I got saved in high school when my entire family was not saved and on the brink of an identity crisis. Shortly after being saved I went with my youth group to a Christian Summer Camp. The Summer Camp had an amazing altar call specifically for those who felt the call of the ministry. It was an opportunity to leave behind our plans and tell God that we surrendered our lives to Him and He could do with them as He planned. On the night of that altar call God whispered to my heart that I would be a missionary. I never forgot that calling. However, fear and stubbornness got in the way a lot of the time.
I recently graduated from a three year discipleship program. After the program a friend of mine mentioned the World Race. I did some research and instantly fell in love with the calling the World Race has. I wanted to apply ,but fear overcame me and I became stubborn. I began to do things opposite of what God wanted of me out of the fear of this calling. I would scroll through Facebook, and Instagram and I would see ads for the World Race every.single.day. It took me two years to finally apply! After applying through so much unnecessary fear I received an interview. And after the interview I was accepted!
Now, I know what you’re thinking,”This girl is excited about the World Race but she hasn’t even described what it is.” Let me tell you about the World Race. First off and foremost, the World Race is an opportunity to seek and save the lost in other countries. It gives people like me the opportunity to live life with someone and show them the love of God in the present. The World Race is a missions trip program run through a ministry called Adventures in Missions who declares this:” At Adventures in Missions, we exist to mobilize a generation of radical Christ followers, discipling and training them to establish the Kingdom of God. We use the vehicle of short-term missions and other discipleship programs to accomplish this. By sharing the stories of what Jesus is doing, we can further triumph over the enemy and bring freedom to others.”
The World Race is for 11 months to 11 countries. As a racer I am blessed to get the opportunity to share with as many unreached people as possible God’s heart for them and His longing to be reunited.
I’m so excited for this chapter of my life. God is leading me as I take these steps. While waiting on this new chapter, I remember that God isn’t done with my current chapter. He’s still writing it. I’m excited for these days leading up to the launch day. I’m in anticipation for the Holy Spirit to tell me to talk to someone. Holy Spirit show me relationship with You even more so in this season. Teach me to obey your tugging at my heart. God what do you want do in my life right now leading up to this World Race?
When I think about the World Race I think of it being the race to overcome the world with God’s Heart for His People.
