This photo is such a great reminder. It hangs on the exit of a church where one of my friends spoke.

Our homes are the mission field.

Our workplaces are the mission field.

Our neighborhoods are the mission field.

Our communities are the mission field.

Don’t ever downplay your importance to Kingdom work because of your location. God could do everything without our help. He doesn’t need us, but He chooses us as His main method of expressing His love. How cool is that??

Point number two. Prayer changes things. It has the ability to soften hearts beyond the limitations of tangible actions. When we consistently pray the will of God over people’s lives, the enemy has no power to stop it.

That being said, as I prepare to start the World Race, I am interested in forming a reciprocal prayer team.

Here’s my vision: Throughout this coming year (Sept 9th 2015-July 26th 2016) members of the prayer team will send weekly prayer requests to me. This includes things around your home, neighborhood, church, and community that could be transformed through prayer. It can include anything, but try to come up with something from a “missional” frame of mind. (Praying for the lost, someone who needs God’s love, etc.) Me and my team of 6 other girls will be praying over these requests weekly.

In return, I’ll be sending weekly prayer requests back home to you. These might be requests from ministries we work with, people we meet on the street, or even a squad or team member who is sick and needs healing.

A few things to consider:

If you’d like to join this team, there is a bit of a commitment involved. It would require a bit of time set aside each week to pray over the requests, and an intentional mindset of noticing people, places, and events that could benefit from prayer.

Confidentiality. It’s incredibly important to honor everyone lifted up in prayer. When you send requests in, the only people that will read them are my team members. You can also specify if you don’t want your request shared among the team. Consequently, you may be exposed to more of the nitty-gritty details of the trip. It’s wonderful to pray with your family or in groups, but please use discretion on sensitive topics.

I believe being an active part of this team (or even doing something like this on your own) could transform your walk with God over the course of a year. I’ve noticed that when I place my focus on praying for others, something in MY heart shifts. THEN I get to watch my prayers come to pass, and even more so, I can’t help but think, “Wow, God you’re SOOO good!”.

If you’d like to join this team, send me an email at [email protected]. Sometime during the process of launch (Sept. 5th-9th.) I will send out an introductory email to everyone who signed up!
