Hi everyone,
This is not so much a blog post as it is a way to quickly update everyone now that we have arrived in San Mateo, Philippines. Getting wi-fi is an all day ordeal, so this might be the only time I am online this month. I plan on doing another blog with stories and pictures when I have more access to internet.
This month we are nestled away in a small mountain village a few hours outside of Manilla. So far, I LOVE everything about the Philippines. The views are incredible and the people are so very friendly. Filipinos love having foreigners visiting their country.
Our ministry is focusing on caring for and loving teenage boys that live on the streets of Manilla. A few days ago, we hosted our first camp of the month. About 15 boys came to stay at the ministry property. The purpose of the camp is to get the boys off of the streets for a few days, provide home cooked meals, give them an outlet through basketball, volleyball and other games, and show them the love of Christ. The boys were so happy to have us here. They reminded our team of the lost boys from Peter Pan. They stayed with us for two days, and we had the opportunity to throw them a Christmas party before they left. This coming week we will host another camp for a new group of boys.
When we’re not busy with the boys, we have been working on various maintenance projects around the property. I’ve gotten to use my paint store skills a little bit because our hosts had two chalk boards they needed repainted and stained.
I hope everyone back home has a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I’ll be checking in when I am able to.
Love,
Casie
