While In South Africa we have had plenty of days where the power has gone out or the water has been low. And when I say plenty… I mean almost everyday we have been here.

At first, it was very annoying but after a couple of times I just learned to carry my headlamp with me all the time and to be carful what I wear and not be so quick to put it with my dirty clothes incase I wasn’t able to do laundry that weekend.

The reason for all of this is because of load shedding, the county does not have enough power to keep everyones lights on at the asme time so part of the country will go without for a little bit. That happened very often. As for the water, there was road construction going on up the road and pipes kept getting busted. That means no water. I have learned to take VERY short showers and (kinda) how to hand wash to help save water. The locals have been trying to teach me to hand wash but they just laugh at me. I don’t blame them, Im really bad at it!

Through all of this it has reminded me of some bible verses and I wanted to share them with you.

Exodus 9:16
But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my POWER, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.

Psalm 145:11
They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your POWER.

Genesis 1:6
And God said, “let there be an expanse in the mist of the WATER, and let it separate the WATER form the WATERS.”

Hosea 13:5
It was I who knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.

Genesis 1:4
God saw that the LIGHT was good, and he separated the LIGHT from the darkness.

Matthew 5:14
You are the LIGHT of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

John 9:5
While I am in the world, I am the LIGHT of the world.

Luke 6:19
And the people all tried to touch him, because POWER was coming from him and healing them all.

Luke 8:46
But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that POWER has gone out from me.
