Training Camp was a crazy thing. It was one of the hardest, but best 10 days of my life. It’s been difficult to put into words just “what Training Camp was like”. Here are 11 things I learned and experienced. From now until launch, I will be writing blogs and going deeper into what I experienced emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Enjoy!

1. It’s a crazy feeling to sign-up to give-up everything for a year to travel to 11 countries in 11 months; it’s an even crazier feeling to meet 50 other strangers who are living with the same passion. It’s a pretty cool thing, no matter how awkward the first few hours may be.

2. It really IS possible to live life with only a few outfits, no makeup, no mirrors, and two pairs of shoes. In fact, it’s GREAT.

3. Bucket showers are a strange, strange thing.

4. Walking and hiking with about 40 pounds total between your daypack and backpack really puts things into perspective. We carry a lot of unnecessary weight in our lives. Not just actual possessions; we do this physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

5. Feedback is a hidden gem. Imagine a world where we were all honest with each other no matter what, and we still reacted in love and respect.

6. Spiders are not ok.

7. Rain can make you feel hopeless, but if you keep dancing and laughing through it, you’ll see the sun come out.

8. Sometimes a spontaneous dance party is what you need.

9. Perspectives change; at the beginning of Training Camp I couldn’t wait to sleep alone in my tent. At the end of camp, I invited a friend over for a sleepover in my little two-person tent. Life is short, spend it with others.

10. Spending 10 days away from social media is one of the most valuable things. We rely on it, and it has a hold on us. Creating space for God and for others to speak into my life brought freedom, joy, and peace.

11. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

To all of my supporters: Thank-you! I am so grateful and excited to announce that I have reached the launch deadline of $7500! I will be heading back to Georgia on June 28th to meet up with my team before heading to India! I still need to raise a little over $8000 to be fully funded for the World Race!
