Take a moment to remember
who God is
and who I am
I have been praying to God the same prayer for about 5 days now; openly frustrated, overwhelmed, disappointed, confused. Life is overwhelming. I’m sure none of you will disagree with me on that. Things don’t work out like we plan, people don’t meet the expectations we set for them, jobs become tiresome, money gets tight, the list can go on and on. And when these obstacles come it’s so easy to look at God and say: WHY? Why didn’t YOU fix it? Why did YOU forget about me? Why can’t everything just work out. I’ve done it so many times. I did it about 12 hours ago. When I still came up about $500 short for my first deadline, which I was praying that God would meet by this past weekend, I got frustrated. I’ve seen God bring in funding for other World Racers in crazy time frames, and that gave me a sense of entitlement. A selfish outlook that God has to work in my life the same way that he has for others. But here’s the reality: I need to take a moment and remember who God is.
God never once said “I will provide for every single person exactly the same within the timeframes they set for me and with the means they determine fit”.
oops.
But what God does promise is this:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28)
Thank God. Thank God that that is the real promise, instead of my selfish and limited expectations. Thank God that I have this time to prepare my heart and mind for the World Race. Thank God that even in the frustration and the confusion, all things are working according to his purpose.
I’m thankful for each and every one of you following my journey as I learn to turn my doubts into praises, and prepare for this crazy adventure. If you would like to support me financially through a monthly commitment or a one-time donation, please go to the “Support Me” tab.
