The night before we left Northern Ireland there was a meeting called for some very important info. We found out that the contact in Moldova cancelled on us and we had no place to go. The logistic people started making phone calls and found us a new destination. We were off to Romania instead. After a long night on a bus and hardly any sleep, we had arrived in Ville Techii. The village consists of a busy main street spotted with brick and stucco houses on both sides as well as a few stores and three churches. Everyone is very friendly and very welcoming. The family we are staying with is rich in love and definatly God centered. The food they are preparing for us has been amazing. We even had fresh home made doughnuts! The girls are sleeping inside and the guys are all in tents outside. Erin and I are sleeping in our tent under a grape vine canopy. Really quite beautiful. We are still adjusting to the much slower pace of life compared to Ireland. There we were very time oriented and always had a place to be. Here it is more about relationships and loving the locals. Since this was an unexpected place to be, there was already going to be another whole squad here in this village. Now there is over 50 racers here in this small village. I think we doubled the population. God definatly had a plan for us all to be here at the same time though. We are here just trying to hear His voice and seeing where He wants us to go. After the first two songs at church yesterday morning, the main contact said God told him we need to bring church to these people. We all got us from the pews grabbed the guitars and jimba’s and walked the main street. As we were singing praises people were coming out from their homes. We told them where they could come to hear more music and tried to witness to them as best we could. It was really cool. Then later we did another church service in a near by village. We basically lead the service with music and some preaching. After we called on the locals if anyone needed healing. Before we even finished inviting people to come forward, the whole church was on their feet and pushing toward the front. After about an hour, we were seeing Jesus’ power and mercy fall on these people. It was a great expirence to show these people how much God loves them.
Our daily routine looks like this: wake up around 7:30, run/workout, breakfast at 9, men typically go and do some type of manual labor while the women form relationships with some of the village women. They maybe wash some rugs then get started on preparing lunch. (Meals usually last for at least an hour) After lunch more of the same. Life is definately very, very slow. At night, we may lead a bible study, church service, or worship somewhere around town.
Today we got a free day so we headed straight for the city. About a 30 min bus ride and we found internet. It will be hard this month to keep in contact so please bare with us. Thank you all so much for your support. Please pray for us as we are praying for you.
