Our team spent month 9 in Balayan, Philippines. We lived at a local church in Balayan with Pastor Renie and his wife, April (pictured above). They had spent about 7 years as missionaries in Japan, then returned to the Philippines to lead their church. Last month, our team served alongside them, led services and bible studies, assisted in the rebuilding of their church sanctuary, and taught a high school girls basketball clinic with Pastor Renie, who coached at a nearby school. The highlights for me were building relationships with some of the college aged guys in the church, and getting to go to another island on a fishing boat with some of the church members. We also worshipped with David Crowder, Kristian Stanfill, and about ten thousand Filipinos at Passion Manila! Check out Owen's recap video below!
