it was a very long trip to get from Guatemala, through Mexico and to Los Angeles! as you have probably already read the blogs from the other teams and my team mates it was a very crazy trip! it really was an amazing race. we had a lot of fun as we finally felt like we could really compete in the race ~ not having to worry about our big blue van was a great blessing.
we only had a short time in Los Angeles, but we tried to make the most of it. yes we went and watched the price is right and went to disneyland. but those really weren’t my favorite parts of being in southern california. ~ i was able to go and spend the night with my sister Courtney and be there for her 20 birthday! it was awesome! i have not been in the country for her birthday for a several years and now she has moved away from the rest of the family so it was a huge blessing to be there with her. it was a very short time together, but it was great to see her and her boyfriend.
when i left for the trip i left my cell phone with my grandma and was able to steal it from her for my time in Los Angeles. we have a family plan so i was able to talk with my family as much as i wanted. it was great! i am really close with my mom and have drifted a little from my sisters as they have moved to different states. but it was amazing to hear their voices again!!
being in california as a ‘tourist’ was great, but my favorite part is still my family. maybe next time i will have more time to be able to see the rest of my extended family who are there…. i love and miss them all.
