Thursday April 13, was Ashley’s Birthday! It was also Thai New Year and Passover. To celebrate we hoped on motorbikes and went into the city. The entire way people created road blocks and drench you with water. Some are polite and say sorry as they dump a bucket of water on you. Being on motor bikes we were not safe from anyone! The only way you could have been wetter was to be completely submerged in water. It was fun until you got hit with ice water that was so cold it burned. There’s also the tradition of putting baby powder on your face – some of which was orange or red, but beware of the one that feels like bengay it creates a warm burning sensation on your face, ouch! Apart from the times of burning it was a blast! The best way of celebrating a holiday that I have ever experienced ; )
For Good Friday, April 14, Chad led a bunch of us in a teaching about seeking God first on the beach. It was a great church service and perfect word (it was something that God was speaking to a few of us during our quiet times that morning or the day before).
In our hotel Cathy and I watched the end of the Passion of the Christ on TV. What an inspiration to have the film showing in a country fill of Buddhists and Muslims. And what a boost for us as we are in a city with a very large ‘entertainment’ district. (Cathy and I are here with the Brown Team to help be prayer support as we are both strong intercessors and God has broken our hearts for people in this industry as well as for the people who are ‘consumers’.)
Please pray that as Easter nears people will ask questions and will find the truth – Jesus Christ. Pray also that we will seek God even more during this time.
Pray for our safety and wisdom as we are in an area that our mothers would prefer we never knew even existed.
