Seattle .. Texas .. Mexico .. Guatemala .. Los Angeles .. Hong Kong .. China

Yes, I made it to China! Things look, feel, and taste the same as the last time I was here, but it is a totally different experience.

Trains &  taxis & busses, oh my!  The 40+ hour trip via foot, bus, train and taxi to get to our current location was an experience in itself. There were 29 of us traveling together!  Luckily we didn’t have any problems on our long journey and even started to enjoy it once we got situated.

Brrrrrrr … Thankfully my mom and sister picked out a jacket for me before I left because I will be living in it and my long johns until we leave! Having grown up in Southern California, I still prefer a warm beach to a cold mountain.  There is snow on the ground here in the areas we’ve passed through and the gutters are filled with slimy slush all over town.  Thanks to all my time in New Zealand I’ve learned some of the tricks to staying warm without heat – hope it’s enough!
I will be splitting up from my red Team Doulos for the next week.  While we were traveling, I was able to spend a lot of time reading and talking to Dad. What I heard is that I should go to the city that the Blue Team is heading for. So for a few days, call me Blue. It will be sad to leave my Red Team, but I am pretty excited to find out what lies ahead on this short journey with the Blue Team.
We are few in a land of millions. We carry heavy backpacks and don’t speak the language. Needless to say, we look quite conspicuous walking down the streets. There are many unknowns that lay ahead of us as we continue our time here in China and we have a LOT of travelling to do while we are here. Please keep talking to Dad about us. His plans are perfect!
Thanks for everything .. I’ll write more soon
