the best way to describe it is by a quote from a fictional book i’m reading about bosnia… “the usual madman’s connect the dots of bullet and mortar scars dotted the walls all around… they were just standard bosnian wallpaper”
the scares of the war still remain in this beatiful place we’ve begun to call home. the city is still devided, east and west, and there is a little bit of hostility between the two sides at times – but what do you expect as it is only eleven years after a war that they faught against each other in.
but let’s not look back, but let’s look ahead….. the people and the church here is amazing!!! we really could not ask for anything better. we had one of the best worship times with the youth the other night! i was blown away by god as we were free to worship in any and every way imaginable, and i think everyone else felt god’s presence just as strongly.
although it is going to be a rough time spiritualy (we are here to do a lot of prayer over and through the city), it is also like a breath of fresh air (reviving and refreshing).
i understand why many of the guys who come here stay for years – god is slowly taking over, but the people who come to him are on fire and committed forever!!
