backpacking is full of opportunities to share your faith! everywhere we went people wanted to know how long we’d been travelling, where we were going, and when we’d be heading home – our answers never seemed to be what they were expecting: most people were in awe and wanted to know more.. we always had new room mates and new opportunities to share what we’ve been doing since january.
the backpackers hostel we stayed at in athens was great (athens international youth hostel). the manager was wonderful. she helped answer all our questions and gave great advice! the more i thought about it… how wonderful would it be to have a christian hostel! i know that there are a few christian hostels out there, but there weren’t any in greece…..
as i was having some alone time with god on our balcony i looked across the street and there it was…
an empty hotel located in the middle of athens…. i found out later that it suddenly shut its doors eight years ago after being a private hotel, and it has been on the market the last six years. i don’t know much more about the building as we had to leave to go to italy. what i do know is that my heart skipped a beat as i looked at this vacant building… i know that god wants to use it to do great things in athens, greece… i just don’t know through who or when………
