When the Lord tells us that we should be teachers of the Word, I quickly realized that it is not just adults that he is talking to, but the children also are called to do the same thing. This past Sunday I gave a sermon in front of the church on what the children of Africa have taught me since I have been hear. They have taught me about love, faith, and perseverance and have challenged me to put it in to action.

I have watched these kids follow us literally everywhere we go: to church, the store or even when we exercise. After I started realizing the mass amounts of children we had following us, I saw half of them did not have shoes. Then I started looking at the roads and paths that they were following us on every day.  They were covered with trash, animal poop, broken glass bottles and debris everywhere.
I have seen these children literally walk through crap just to follow us. Not caring about how the path looks, where the destination is or how far they must walk. The only thing they care about is if they are in our presence holding our hands and standing by our side.

Can you image if the body of Christ followed Jesus Christ like these children have been following my squad and I?! Think of the army the lord could rise up if he had a people who said I will walk through trials and tribulations as long as I am in your presence!

Another thing that has amazed me about these children is how fast they are willing to get up and leave their mom and dad’s home to come and follow us. There have been times when we have had to tell them to go back home because we can’t have them getting lost, but when we choose to leave our family’s and follow Jesus we will never get lost, we will be found.
Getting lost is the last thing that is on these children’s mind because the love kindness and glory that they see in us is greater than the fear of getting lost.
Think if our trust for our father was so enormous that we could say yes when he called us to step outside of what our family wanted for our lives because we would know it was impossible for us to get lost when we choose to following our Lord.

The best and last thing that these children have amazed me with is how they take it upon  themselves to literally carry each other everywhere! I will see these 6 to 12 year old children carrying these 1 to 3 year old children on their backs with ease and without complaining.

My prayer is that we as Christians would take it upon ourselves to carry our brothers and sisters on our backs when we see them in sin or a weak place in their lives.

That our first reaction would be to stand by them in spirit and in truth, and that we would choose to not enter in to a place of laziness in our walk of faith when fighting for them just because we see them doing it

I thank God for the teachers that he has given me this month and how they have changed me life and my walk with the Lord.
