com·mu·ni·ty
noun
     1. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in             common.

     2. a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes,                     interests, and goals.

Since July in India I have experienced a change in community 3 times.

July: IndiaLost & Found” was my team since May.We experienced so much life together. From sickness to
adventure to breaking through comfort zones.

August:NepalThe Yak Pak
This team was only together for the month in Nepal. We were two teams, from different squads (R Squad & Fusion) coming together to live life as ministry, while the boys from our teams were together for “MANistry” Even though our time was short, our adventures and kingdom seeking did not lack.

September to the end: Por Que No?
This is my community for the last 3 months of the race, as of today only 6ish weeks left.<<CRAZY, I know>>
This team is composed of 2 former teammates and 3 new ones. They all love well, and serve even better. Our team’s theme is “FREEDOM” and “WHY NOT?” (hence our team name) our team verse is:

1 Corinthians 3:17
Now the LORD is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is FREEDOM”

Now, I’m sure we all know, that community can be hard, or it can be beautiful, or even a mixture of the two.  On each team we faced challenges, but at the end of the day we come together to love one another well. After all, we all have the same goal, the same Savior and the same Father, so our differences don’t really matter.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
                                                                                    –John 13:35

So here are 5 of my favorite quotes on community.

“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.”
? Kurt Vonnegut Jr.,

“If man is to survive, he will have learned to take a delight in the essential differences between men and between cultures. He will learn that differences in ideas and attitudes are a delight, part of life’s exciting variety, not something to fear.”
? Gene Roddenberry

“We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community.”
? Dorothy Day,

“There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals.”
? Idowu Koyenikan,

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing.”
? Jean Vanier
