Hey everyone!
I’m sorry I haven’t written a blog in a while. The first week of our arrival into the country my mom had the great opportunity to come to the Philippines and do ministry with me. So for 6 days my mom and other racer’s parents were able to come and do bar ministry with us.
That week we got to work with an organization called Wipe Every Tear. Wipe Every Tear is an organization that takes girls out of the bars, where they are prostituted to older men from other countries. They provide them with a bed, 3 meals a day, child support if they have children and they pay for them to finish high school or college. They own 6 safe houses and have over 80 girls living there. So for two nights we went and told the girls about Wipe Every Tear and what they offer. We did not preach to them or talk about Jesus at all. Kenny Sacht, the founder told us ” don’t you dare go into those bars and talk about the gospel”. He is so passionate about it because many Christian groups go in and pray for the girls but do nothing else. Wipe Every Tear gives them a way out, he said to us ” a bed and a roof over their heads is the good news, three meals a day is the good news, free education is the good news”.
So for two nights we had the opportunity to work with our parents to give these girls an opportunity for a better life. We talked to many girls about the organization and even told them they had the opportunity to come back to one of the houses with us and check it out and they would also pay for their ride back to work. I really can’t put into words what it was like there and what we experienced. All I know was that we brought light to a dark place.
That week with my mom and doing bar ministry is one I’ll never forget.
After that we joined the rest of the squad back at our ministry sight. We are working with Kids International Ministries, an organization that works with kids from the area and helps feed different communities throughout Manila. We also have the opportunity to go to a children’s home. They have kids there from babies to middle schoolers. These kids were either abandoned or taken out of abusive homes. I’m really loving everything we can do here in the Philippines and I’m really looking forward to the next 2 months.
