The past 3 months in Malawi have been amazing. In the first month we did children’s ministry and we would go out villages and play games and tell bible stories to the kids. The next month was our manistry month with all eleven of us guys on a team. We worked at a preschool and also went and did door to door evangelism. Then our last month in Malawi all of us guys were staying with pastor Harvey in Lilongwe, the capital. We went out daily and did door to door and helped plant churches.

In all of those 3 months we got to experience Africa to the fullest. It is truly like nothing else. One of the memories that will stay with me is when we arrived to a village that was about 2 hours down a long dirt road surrounded by corn and tobacco fields. When we pulled up into the village in the minibus the women of the village were singing, dancing and playing drums for our arrival. When we got out all of the kids came running from every direction to see us yelling “azungu!”. Another one of my favorites from this month was when we went to a prison to preach to the inmates. We walked into the prison which was mostly outside, with hundreds of inmates just standing around. We went into a room with all of them and we sat down. I wasn’t really sure what to expect with all of the inmates in the room and how they would respond to the message Brady was going to share. As I was sitting there wondering all of this one guy got up and they all started singing hymns in Chichewa. I was so surprised to see them all so lively and looking so happy. Then after the message many of them also decided to give their lives to Christ. This just showed me that no matter who it is or what had happened that anyone can find redemption in Christ.

That’s the jist of what we did in the past 3 months but it doesn’t come close to explaining all that happened. From all of the amazing people I’ve met, to the safari, to just experiencing the warm heart of Africa, I’ve loved it all. Malawi is like nothing that I’ve ever experienced before and I’ll never forget this place.

This Friday we fly to the Philippines for our last 3 months!
