Okay, I’m going to be honest. Last month, when my team and I found out we were going to be working on a farm in the jungle in the-middle-of-nowhere Costa Rica, we were a little disappointed. Especially because other teams on our squad were able to live and do ministry at the beach in Costa Rica.

But wow. God turned what seemed like a burden into a blessing. Looking back on the month, I don’t think anyone on my team would have traded our Costa Rica experience for any other.

Our month was filled peace, mainly because of our host, Tony. He clearly knows God so deeply and dearly that he radiated peace that covered the farm and surrounded us.

And on top of that, we were secluded and disconnected from the outside world, without any WiFi or cellular service at the farm. Removing any distractions that our electronic devices could create.

Finally, we built relationships that are now so dear to our hearts. There were two guys who worked on the farm with us and they greatly impacted the quality of our month. They were extremely hard working and servant hearted, which rubbed off on us and helped us have positive attitudes about the manual labor we were doing. Their love of fun and laughter created for funny memories and good conversations during our work and throughout the day.

Looking back on the past month in Costa Rica, the peace and rest we experienced was such a blessing. The month was definitely not a burden like we worried it would be.
