Injera is what Djibouti calls its traditional flatbread.
Banana fritters are made with mashed ripe bananas mixed in a batter of flour, sugary water, and a dash of nutmeg. Then they’re cooked just like pancakes.
The samboussa is a savory pastry made with a filling of meat, leeks, and onions, folded into a triangular pastry and deep fried until golden brown and crispy. It can be served with some African hot sauce.
Cool Geography:
Djibouti is mainly desert but it also contains some awesome landforms including volcanoes! The Moussa Ali volcano is its highest peak.
Lake Assal is a crater lake that is 10 times saltier than the sea. It is the one of the most salty bodies of water, it is the world’s largest salt reserve, and it is the lowest point in Africa. You can float in it like the Dead Sea.
Fun things to do:
Visit Lake Assal, the Day Forest National Park, and Lac Abbe.
Prayer
I pray that as we spend time in Djibouti the people will be open to our squad and to hearing the Gospel. We are the first team of World Racers to visit Djibouti, so I pray for our safety and guidance. I pray that our ministry will be a fruitful one and we will be able to start a good foundation for future racers.
